Castle Schools Education Trust (CSET) Castle School Thornbury, tasked us with the refurbishment of the main school kitchen.
The existing kitchen was cleared out and stripped back to the bare structure including the Mechanical and Electrical services. Following removal of the wall tiles, the walls were plastered with a skim finish ready for the Hygienic cladding to be fitted.
New mechanical installation including gas, Heating, hot and cold water and above ground drainage. In addition to the specification, we installed a new electric boiler and hot water heater and tank Calorifier
New Electrical installation, including, small power, data and new LED lighting controlled via PIR sensors. This low energy set-up means lights are only activated when a user enters the room, automatically switching off after a set period of time. In addition to the specification, we installed a new 250A three phase supply from a location in the school approximately 60m We installed new flooring and ceilings throughout.
A new Service spine and ventilation hood was installed with new roof extract plant. A new servery was installed giving the school additional serving space. New and some of the existing kitchen furniture was installed.
The main challenge was the tight programme duration of 5 weeks to complete the works ready for the school to return, and unknown work that became apparent as the project progressed. Coordination with other main contractors on site All works were completed on time and to budget.
